1997 chevy s-10 4.3 automatic. After it sets for a couple of days it won`t start without the help of stating fluid. Once it starts it`s ok untill a couple of days again. What could be the problem? Thanks Jerry

Use a gage and check fuel pressure. If you have the spider fuel system, they are noted for problems. How long since a tune-up? Battery has a full charge?

Just to add, if you have the spider fuel system, pressure is 60--66 psi, key on engine off.

Fuel pressure shows 60 lbs but won`t hold pressure when fuel pump stops pumping, with motor runing it shows about 50 lbs at idle

After the pump stops, if you block off the supply line and the pressure holds, I suspect the fuel pump.

A couple other thoughts, leaking fuel injector/poppet, or leaking pressure regulator. Does your crankcase oil smell like gas?
