Ok so my car recently died slowly with the lights dimming while I was driving. I took the alternator out and got it checked, it was bad so I got a new one and a new belt and put them both in. I started my car and it turned on. However the belt was extremely squeaky so I went to tighten it. While tightening the belt a bolt broke (my bad tightened it to much) and that's when I realized the belt was too long so I just put the old belt on (which is still good). I got a new bolt sort of and tightened the whole thing back up again so it was exactly how it is supposed to be other than the tension on the belt which I am not too sure about but it seems to be good. Next I reconnected my negative terminal on my battery (which was undone during the repair process). When I went to start my car I turned my key just a couple notches and the dash lights turned on but when I went to turn the car over it just died nothing clicked and all the lights turned off, my car just died. I went to start it again and nothing turned on at all not even the dash lights. So I disconnected my neg. Terminal again and reconnected it and tried again. This time the dash lights came on again but the car still wouldn't start at all. So I checked the fuses and they all seemed to be good. Some of the larger ones had some blue acid corrosion on the metal part on top but they weren't burnt or anything. Next I tried to jump start my car which ultimately did nothing but turn on my warning light on the dash saying a door was open. Any thoughts?
