95 Saturn has a honking sound once turned on and while driving started after changing the IAC (Idle Air Control) Ok so I have a 95 Saturn and it was stalling. It drove great even tho it was stalling. It was also getting really hot fast. After changing the fuel filter I noticed a difference. It stopped stalling out so much but I realized it was only stalling on Reverse and whn the air was on. I found on your site someone with almost the exact problem. Thats when I learned about the IAC.

But after doing that it stopped the stalling and over heating. But now it sounds choppy. Its louder and it sounds like Blah Blah Blah. Overall I have changed or replaced: Spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, IAC, the sensor next to the IAC, Relay fuses, filter, had the muffler reran, 2small rubber hoses running from the engine to where the IAC is connected to (sorry Im a female so I dont know what its all called).I am tired of spending money I dont have to fix something I dont know what or where is causing it. PLEASE HELP I need help ASAP its driving me MAD not knowing whats wrong with my baby. Thank you in advance for your help!

Wow I have a secret admirer I try to answer most of the saturn questions. Iam factory trained saturn tech spent many years working at saturn dealers till they closed the saturn division.I would check the upper motor mount by your valve cover. Its really common for them colaspe. Can you take a few pics of the mount and post them for me to see? Also the lower transmission mounts colaspe and tear loose.

Thats crazy that you said that, my dad was looking at it earlier for me and he is a really great back yard machanic and he said the same thing that I would be ok for now but I would have to change the motor mound that its not to bad right now. Im going to NC this week. I was kinda hoping it was something simplier then the motor mound tho. I thought we put the spark plugs in but I guess we didnt but I do have them. Will put them in tomorrow. Regarding the picture Ill try and do that tomorrow. I have to warn you tho I need to change the gasket on my engine so my engine looks kinda dirty it has dried oil around the block of the engine.

I need to see which style mount you have and will tell you how to tell if its bad. Also I wouldnt get one at the junk yard most of them are bad. The mounts are pretty cheap I just got one on amazon for like 22.00. Post the pic and we will go from there.

Thats wonderful I really mean that. There is a special seat for you next to the Good Lord. This might sound like a weird question but I know my dad said I would be ok regarding the car but from what I just told you do you think I would be ok driving from Michigan to N. Carolina (810 Miles) and back A couple yrs ago we drove there and back w/o doing any work to the car just added oil and made it. This time I think we can make it but fiance (who dont know to much about cars, I think he is just trying to get out of driving there and back) says we should wait. In your opinion from what I have told you about the car do you think it will be ok or just wait? Just wondering your opinion

Iam going to give you a safe honest answer without looking the car over I cant tell you if its safe to drive that far.I would check transmission fluid level and condition oil level and condition. Power steering fluid level and condition coolant level and condition. Also check all the coolant hoses for swelling soft spots etc. Visable fluid leaks tire condition and pressure etc.

Ok Im still figuring out how Im gonna take a pic since I dont have a phone with a camera. But Today I noticed when I drive it and when its in drive it feels like (when yo the driver seat) a washer machine on the spin cycle. When I look under the hood I dont see anything that could be causing that problem but the fan and the fan is running normally. Im gonna go back out there and check it out some more but I hope you find the time to answer my question What could be causing the whooshing or spinning feeling? Thanks in advance!

Sorry I havent responded I was w/o internet for a couple days. But Im glad to say that my car is accually running better then it ever has before. Its quiter faster smoother has incredible pick up I swear its like driving a new car. When driving I have to check my speedometer because it runs so smooth now you cant even tell how fast your going I have caught myself speeding a number of times w/o even knowing. I appreciate your help and everything you have suggested I was unable to take pictures of my engine. But all in all everything is better then it was when I first bought the car. I hope your ok and the family is ok as well. I do have one more question for you then I promise Ill leave you alone. Being a saturn machanic which would you say is better Saturn or Fords or are they pretty much the same (engine wise)?

So what did you do to make it sound so good?To answer your question about which car I think is better saturns or fords?Other moderators on here may disagree with me but I think the saturns are better. The saturn S model is my favorite model saturn the engines and transmissions are only found in the saturn S model no other cars. There reliable easy and cheap to fix and predicable.I have owned like 6 saturn S models over the years.
