Heater workers temporarily and only as long as the car has been warmed up. Once the heater is turned on the heat only lasts as long the temperature guage remains in the "hot" zone but quickly drops to the "cold" zone.

Sounds like it might be the thermostat. Do you mean you drive car and temp drops quickly?

No, the cars temperature remains half way between hot and cold while the heater is off but once the heater is turned on then the temperature guage drops the cold and the hot air stops.

I would try a new thermostat.
