Cleaned tank, and I replaced my fuel pump. Put good, clean gas in the tank and tried to crank truck. Still no start. It will start with starting fluid. Guess it's still not getting fuel. What could be the issue?

Hi,

If it starts with starting fluid, then you are correct. It isn't getting fuel. Have you checked to make sure the new fuel pump is turning on? Also, have you checked to see if the fuel injection is getting power?

There is an EFI fuse and relay. I attached a pic below and highlighted the two items. Make sure the fuse is good as well as the relay.

Here are a couple links you may find helpful:

As far as the relay test, if there is a different relay in the box with the same part number, switch them to see if it helps.

The fuse/relay are located in the number 2 relay box. Panel No. 2 is located in the right hand side of the engine compartment, behind the battery.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,
Joe

Hello. Sorry for the delay in responding, but I don't get to do much work on the truck as it's not physically with me all the time. I was able to swap the relays in the box and try to crank the truck. I had the same outcome. It will turn over but won't run. I did notice that the tachometer would jump up a little bit while the engine was turning over. Perhaps you could explain what that might mean. At this point, the only thing I think I have left is to replace fuel filter and see if I have gas coming to it when trying to crank. But, you are the expert, so whatever suggestions you have would be well received.

Hi and welcome back.

The tachometer movement is normal. The ignition system is simply indicating the engine is turning. Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you first turn the key on? If you don't, then the pump isn't turning on and we will have to check for power at the pump itself.

Let me know.

Joe
