Why no power

Starts and idles great but has no pickup outside of second gear

Check the fuel pressure. There is a test port on the fuel rail. Advance Auto or Auto Zone have test gauges on a loaner basis.
I am giving you the chart for fuel pressure specs as I did not know for sure which motor you have.
