The truck will turn over but will not start?

The truck will turn over but will not start. Fixing to put new fuel pump in front tank it is out. History on the truck just bought it been setting about a year some one has put a push button to start it. I know the old man very well that I got it from. Anyway, on the driver side under the hood fire wall someone has cut a green wire with yellow strip and and put it with a red wire also ran a red wire to back tank the other end of green wire that runs into the fire wall taped off nothing connected to it. Buy the way, I did put good gas in it thinking back pump also out. Plan on putting it all back the way it came. Also, it turns over no matter where you have the shifter automatic transmission.
