My 1987 Subaru tbi 1.8 runs fine but the choke quit working so it is hard to start when cold

What runs the choke. What makes it run?

If I remember correctly on an 87, they are run by an ambient temperature thermostat. Follow the rod that connects to the choke. It will lead you to the source.

It is a fuel injected system not a adjustable choke.
