1988 Subaru GL Subbie FI Stutters Intermittantly

It stutters, like it is losing power when I accelerate and then kicks back in for a little and then feels like it is losing power again. There's no problem when the car is idling in neutral and I depress the gas pedal - motor revs fine - it's getting fuel, so assume no problem with the pump. Just changed the fuel filter. Any suggestions on what is causing the hesitation and stutter?

First, if the vehicle wasn't tuned up lately, you should consider it. To me, your description sounds like a misfire. If that doesn't help, then I would check fuel pump pressure. NOTE: If the check engine light comes on, you should have the computer scanned to determine where the problem is coming from.
