1987 chevy trucks turns over but will not start

There are a number of things that can cause this, so we need to start with figuring out what we have and don't have in order to figure out what system to dig into.

We need air, fuel, spark, and compression in order to get an engine started.

So, let's start with fuel as this is the most likely cause.

You can also use starter fluid and see if the engine will start.

If not, then we need to move onto spark and for that we can just pull a plug and hold it against the block and see if there is spark.
