I have the vehicle listed above that will crank but won’t start unless it wants to. I just put a brand new alternator in it, got the battery checked and it’s fine but nothing is working. As soon as I turn it off it starts doing it again. I took it to two places and seen what the check engine light was for and a bunch of codes said battery to ground or something like that, but I’m pretty sure I fixed that because the light went off. The people I bought it from said they took it to three different mechanics and non of them could figure out what was wrong.

Hello,

When your vehicle's Malfunction Indicator Lamp MIL, or "check engine" light is illuminated and you pull the Direct Trouble Codes [DTC][s] with your code reader what comes up?

Thanks,
Alex

All of these. Most of these are new to me. Would a new ECU help with that?

Hello,

Okay, so let's take these DTC's one at a time, and in order of importance. The DTC that I can see that is most important is going to be DTC P0689. This DTC could clear up a lot of the other DTCs when fixed, so, in the diagrams down below I have included the diagnostic troubleshooting guide from the vehicle manufacturer for DTC P0689. I have also included guides on how to find opens, shorts to grounds, and bad connectors in an automotive circuit as well. Please go through this guide and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex
