I'm going to change my antifreeze thermostat and serpentine belt and would like your opinion on if I should replace the water pump while I'm in there or do they last 200,000 miles most of the time? What would you do? I take care of my cars until they just quit all together. Thanks!

Hi,

Normally, that won't last 200,000. However, if there is no problem with it, I would leave it alone. It may last a lot longer. But that is up to you. If it does fail, the only loss will be coolant and the time to remove and replace the belt and a couple of other components to access it.

If you do decide to replace it, here is a link to help get you started:

If you look at the attachments below, they provide the directions specific to this vehicle for the removal and replacement of the water pump.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
