Turns over no start

It acts like it wants to occasionally and occasionally it backfires through the throttle body. The key switch has been totally mangled so I went around it and hot wired it and had it running so I know that's all good. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning,

I would start with a compression test to be sure the timing is correct. If it backfires, you have spark.
