1995 Geo Metro Won't Rev Up

I have a friend that knows cars better than I do working on my car. The timing belt snapped and even after replacing the belt, it wouldn't start. IT would turn over, but not start. He got it to start, but now said that it either won't 'rev up' or it 'runs away'. He suspects its fuel related, but is miffed. I have also recently replaced the fuel filter, ignition coil, and ignition control mod. Spark Plugs and Wires are new and he put a new distributor in. I'm miffed. He's miffed. What else could be the issue? Oh, and he has plugged his code reader to the car and it comes back 'data not available'. WTH!

Here is my question if the timing belt broke how would that effect fuel?Even replacing the belt doesn't require messing with the fuel. How did iI run before the belt break?As far as the no data available on the computer his scan tool might not have been compatible with your car. Are you sure you don't have bent valves?

Also are you sure the timing marks are correct?That's one of the first things I would check.

It wouldn't be the valves. Its a non interference engine. It was running fine before. He used the timing gun and it was all lined up. I can't imagine that 2 independent problems could have occured at the same time? Besides the valves, what else could have happened when the belt snapped? Something in the throttle body, maybe? Possibly an issue with the ECM?
