The switch does not have power to it and will not change from two wheel drive to four wheel drive. I checked the fuses where I could and did not find any blown or even related to the switch.

PS, this same car has never blown air through the vents (air conditioning) but blows it everywhere else. Seems like the vents are plugged somewhere. We asked about it when we bought it new and the dealer people said it was like that with all Durangos of that year. Any comments?

Did you ever find out why your vehicle wouldn't go into 4wd? I have a 2001 Dodge Durango, v8 and have the same problem. Just one day it wouldn't work. The indicator light for the 2wd/4wd switch won't light up and the vehicle won't go into 4wd. Never had a diagnostic light come up on the dash. The dealership isn't sure, wants to diagnosis some more at $75.00 and hour and they already had it for 3 hours! They "think" it might be a transfer motor case, which is $599.00! Would appreciate knowing how, if you were able to fix it. Thanks

I have exactly the same problem as you Cheryl6162 with my 2001 Durango. No lights on my 2wd/4wd/4Lo dash switch and can't change out of 2wd. Came on suddenly. Would be very helpful if you could reply with how you made out with your repair and what the problem was. Thanks.
