When I am at a light the car does not pick up speed. I put my foot all of the way down on the gas and its like it wants to turn off. But after a few seconds the car picks up speed and it jerks back which causes the rpm's to go high like if its in another gear, but then it will go back to normal. I cannot figure out the problem can you please help? Thanks

Scan for codes and check fuel pressure with a gauge, auto parts can scan for free and rent gauge.

But the check engine light does not come on and the fuel pressure would cause the car to act like that?

Low fuel pressure will not necessarily set the check engine light and will cause engine problems like you are experiencing. Fuel pressure should be 35-65psi key on only.
