Had a trusted shop change locked A/C compressor, A/C functioned normally about 10,000 miles ago. Today, ambient temp 95+, A/C inoperable. Both radiator fans do come on high. At a red light idling, A/C will blow cold for a short time. Could the radiator thermostat need changed?

Good morning.

The first thing I would like to see is the actual low and high side pressure of the AC when the system is idling and at 1500 rpm.

That will tell me good information on how the Freon system is working.

Yes, if the engine is running above its normal range the thermostat may be bad but would give no AC at idle.

Before I checked refrigerant pressure as suggested, I checked the electrical connections at the compressor and radiator fans. I believe that the compressor connector was loose. The A/C started working, but then the blower fan would not work on any speed. Replaced blower motor resistor (had replaced two years ago previously). Now blower and A/C function as intended. Thanks for "being there" and your help!
