My 1997 honda accords speedodemeter quit working but every now and then it will jump up and down and as it does that it seems to make mycar stall and loose power, what is causing it to do that

Inspect and test the vehicle speed sensor.

Would a speed sensor malfunction cause my engine to lose power?

It will cause the transmission not to shift properly

Man u got it. I jus replaced the vss and the car runs great. You really know ur stuff. Lol anyways now I got an issue with my 2003 vw jetta 2.0. This morning I started it up and the engine light is blinking and my engine is shaking very bad and it sounds nasty, would u have any ideas what would cause it to do this all of sudden. Thank you guys u have been extreamly helpful.

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis,finding out what's going on.
