Engine will not start

Vehicle has been setting for a year. Was running when parked. Put new battery in as, old one was dead. Engine turns over but will not start. It's getting fuel as I can hear pump come on, but it still wont start. Acts like it's not getting spark but spark plug wires are nearly impossible to get to.

Hello,

This could be a problem with your vehicle's Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP). Your vehicle's Power-train Control Module (PCM) use the signal from the CMP to fire both the fuel injectors and the spark plugs. Without this signal your vehicle's engine will not start or run. In the diagrams down below I have included a description of your vehicle's CMP circuit as well as a diagram of it's location. Here is a link below for you to go to as well:

I installed the new camshaft sensor but it still has no spark. I pulled the #1 plug and grounded it to the frame but nothing. However, I purchased a remanufactured one from Amazon. Now I had a hard time getting the two pins lined up and I cranked the motor over a couple of times to get an angle I could work with. Will this hurt anything by doing that?

A remanufactured camshaft sensor? Never heard of that before.
If it sat for a year, usually the spark plug will have rusted and all the spark in the world still won't be enough.
What you should do next is retrieve the trouble codes from the pcm.
