Will not go back in drive

I bought this car and drove the car up a hill park it to replace water pump, already replace fuel pump. Now the car will not go back into drive. Checked and added transmission fluid but still will not go into drive. It will crank and sounds perfect but will only go into reverse. Please help!

Good morning.

First, check the obvious. Check the fluid level and condition.

Do you mean the shifter will not go down into drive or it moves to drive and will not move the car?

Checked and added fluid and it will go into drive but will not move. It will go into reverse and did go into drive and was driven and than like less than twenty minutes later it is not driving going into drive but not moving. New fuel pump and water pump and thermostat installed.

Okay, then the next step is to drop the transmission pan and check the filter and see if it is clogged or if there is debris in the system.

Beyond that, it is an internal failure.
