I was told by U haul that my SUV listed above two door can’t tow a 2002 Acura RL with a dolly or auto transport. I need some clarification on this. The max tow load hitch is 7,000. The Acura weighs 3,898 lbs. Any guidance would help.

Hi,

As long as you have a hitch that will handle the weight, the only concern would be braking. Often times a dolly will have a hydraulic brake built into it that applies when weight is distribution moves forward on the dolly.

Is that what they are worried about? Also, in your owner's manual, it will identify the max towing capacity. Certainly, anything over 1000 points should have some form of braking device but your vehicle will pull it.

Please confirm if the Tahoe's engine is a 5.7L or a 6.5L diesel.

Take care and let me know if you have other questions.

J

You will certainly have the power. LOL As I mentioned, just make sure the hitch you have is okay for the weight and make sure there is some form of brake on the trailer.

Let me know if you have other questions,

Take care,
Joe
