1995 Chevrolet Tahoe Towing

I am towing a boat that weighs around 1400 pounds and I was wondering if I need to tow it in 3rd gear to relieve the transmission of some stress. I also was curious of how fast can you go while in 3rd and also where is the over drive on this vehicle. Is it just the regular drive gear?

1400 pounds is basically nothing on a truck that size. I wouldn't be too concerned unless you are on a very long trip. Your owners manual should have advice for towing on that particular vehicle. Different vehicle require different habits.
