Why is my tow light coming on while driving

2000 Chevy Tahoe 3.5L driving on high way tow light comes on and off while driving not towing anything you can feel the gears change. What would cause this. Driving on the side roads the tow light comes on and off more on than off you can feel the Tahoe shift gears but not towing nothing. Same thing when driving on high way. How do I fix this?

If it is making shift corrections during this cycling, it may think it is being turned on/off. This could be due to a faulty switch in the shift lever. Vibration induced by road surfaces can change the frequency that it occurs. It would probably require the use of a scan tool to monitor the input, to see if it is switching. There is more than likely a connector that may be disconnected, and if the symptom seizes, replace the switch/lever.
