Someone changed the belt and I'm not sure they did it right.

The easiest thing to look at is the ribbed side of the belt. When the belt goes around a pulley, that pulley will have ribs on it to match those on the belt. When the smooth backside of the belt goes around a pulley, that pulley will be smooth.

What makes you think the job wasn't done correctly?

There's a second version of this diagram that uses one less pulley. If this one doesn't match your engine, there is always a belt routing diagram on a sticker under the hood. That will be correct for your engine.

This is the belt routing diagram for that vehicle. It rotates the opposite of the engine. The 4.7 also has a belt replacement guide on it, if you look at the second image and measure at A if that is over 24mm the belt has to be replaced as it is stretched and worn.

Both answers were helpful first one, wrong diagram and there isn't one under the hood of the vehicle. Second diagram was correct, and I didn't know about that measurement. Thank you

You're welcome. The first image appears to be the 5.7 hemi routing. They used all three popular engines that year, the base was the 3.7, the "standard" engine was the 4.7 and they also had the 5.7 hemi in them.

There was quite a bit of confusion related to the diagrams. The one I posted was listed for all three engines. It was for the "8-pulley" system. The other one is for a "7-pulley" system. But the numbering doesn't appear to match. In the 7-pulley diagram, the pulley shown for item # 8 is way too large in diameter for the alternator. They also show the smooth backside running around that pulley, but that would never work. Alternators require a lot of effort to turn, so they always use the ribbed side of the belt. I'm still confused after studying that diagram some more.

It appears the numbered list only applies to the 8-pulley diagram I posted. If that is correct, why couldn't they be bothered to include a list for the 7-pulley system? To add to the misery, I looked under the hood of my truck, and I too do not have a belt routing diagram. I'm kind of disappointed.
