Engine gets too warm?

I have the truck listed above 1500 that gets a little too warm for me. I've had it for 1 year and I have never seen it get above the halfway point on temperature gauge lately it has been doing that it bugged me one day. So, I changed the thermostat and water pump. It still gets to about 225 which is a little past the halfway mark after it gets to 225 the fan finally comes on, is this normal? My only concern is I'm moving soon, and I will be towing and don't want the engine to overheat on the road because if it's getting that warm at idle I can't imagine towing up a hill.
