A loud rattling noise that is getting worse in bottom of the back of the engine? Sounds like metal on metal, the warmer the engine gets the worse it is. Replaced water pump, and is now even worse, car rolled back a good metre when giving way on a hill and did a skid to take off. Help me! I have friends that said my engine and transmission are about to pack up. I had it for month and half, and also replaced harmonic balancer and crank angle sensor.

You may have a cracked drive plate. Remove the starter motor and inspect around the bolts that attach the torque converter, if cracked the transmission will have to be removed to replace the drive plate.

It must have been really broken up normally with a cat failure you get a blocked exhaust and lack of power but a quicker fix than pulling the trans thanks for using 2car pros
