2006 Volkswagen Passat My car shimmies when I drive under 5

As I am excelerating my car shimmies and my steering wheel shakes and shimmies actually my whole front seat area does too. Can you tell me what might be the problem? And how can I fix it?

Get a very close look at the wheels and tires. You may have to jack it up to get a good look. Sounds like possibly loose lug nuts, badly bent rim or most likely a shifted belt in a tire. The tire will have a pronouced bulge in the tread.

While the front wheels are up, check the steering/suspension components by placing your hands at opposite sides of each wheel and using a push-pull motion. Use 12 and 6 o'clock, 3and 9 o'clock positions.

You may want to have your cylinder spring checked out. If the engine shakes the car you may be only firing on 3 of your 4 cylinders.

I recently had one go bad on my v6, and I experienced the same thing. The whole car would wobble.
