Whats the year make and model of your car (what size engine is it?)

My 88 Golf has two fuel pumps, one in the tank and one out of the tank. If the pump in the tank is broken and the fuel level gets too low it won't pull out of the tank anymore. There is a pressurized tank that loses pressure. I think you can re-pressurize it with air hose in the gas neck if you seal it good. Once re-pressurized, should be fine, just stay above 1/4 tank.
