No power

My daughters 90 Jetta barely makes it out of the driveway and is not driveable. The timing advances and the exhaust is not plugged. Help!

The timing advances and the exhaust is not plugged. Help! How did you determine this and also let me ask-does the car starts but won't continue to run-be specific of the problem so we can help you
