I have a 1986 VW Golf that I drive every day to work and back. In the morning or when the car is cold it will start right up no problems however, once it gets warmed up and I shut it off, it's a bear to get started again. If I pull into the post office, run in, when I come back out and try to start it, it just laughs at me. I have to hold the ignition on, give it a gas and sit there waiting with the starter cranking over and over until it finally starts. And at that point it kinda sputters to life. In the morning, at lunch break, and when its quitting time I can go out and it will start up first pull.
The car is a carbureted 1.6 four banger.

Hi
Hope I can help with this!

I used to have a 1.6 carb Mrk 1 Golf that had an issue with starting. I did a carb service on it and found a lot of dirt in the main jet in the venturi. This can cause over fuelling when hot, so the engine basically floods itself with fuel and wont start.

Maybe try a carb service and see if this helps.

Let me know if you have any luck!

After changing the brain box then I fixed a new one then I began to experience hard starting. I have to hold on to "D" accelerator very well before it starts.
