Hi ive just bought an astra 1.7 CDTI 2003. It was advertised with a turbo fault but I dont think it is. When you start it, it will missfire and produce blue smoke for a few seconds then clear up. But if you give it a rev, will missfire and smoke again for a few seconds. Any ideas?

Hi there,

when an engine smokes a little on start up then clears it is usually a sign that the valve stem seals are worn, but in your case, with the engine running an it is puffing smoke on hitting the throttle, you may have a faulty main turbo oil seal, this will allow oil into the exhaust at the turbo shaft.
