Van was idling then suddenly quit running. Now it cranks but will not start. Before it was running fine with no problems. Checked spark has good spark, turn the key on you can hear fuel pump come on. Was thinking of changing crankshaft sensor, don’t know what else it may be.

Hello,

This sounds like you could be having a problem with your vehicle's Auto Shut Down (ASD) relay which is located in your vehicle's Totally integrated Power Module (TIPM). In the diagrams down below I have included diagrams for the location, diagram w/callout for the TIPM, as well as a description of what the ASD relay does. Please replace and get back to us with how everything turns out.

Thanks,
Alex

Okay, in the diagrams down below I have included wiring diagrams of your vehicle's ASD relay wiring. I have also included a guide for you explaining tracking down loose connections and intermittent connector problems. Please look at the wires that are highlighted in the wiring diagrams and check the connectors for corrosion or loose fitting wires and get back to us with what you find out, please.

Thanks,

I have checked most but not all as of yet. It has gone back to just cranking but now when the key is released from start to run position it continues to crank. It don’t do it when you go from off on run. Just when you turn the key to start and release in run position it does.

I finally checked all wires and connections all seem fine. I did spray some throttle body cleaner it did fire then stalled. So apparently not getting fuel. Again you can hear fuel pump kick on when key turned. I’m now thinking filter or pressure regulator the thing is they are in the fuel pump module.

Sorry it has taken awhile to reply back. Tested fuel pressure and it was low. Ordered fuel pump since regulator and filter strainer part of module. Took a few days to get it in. Replaced it and is now running fine. Your diagrams and instructions were of great help. The only problem I had was disconnecting bottom filler hose seem they put some type of sealer on it and I had to cut it to get it off then tried to get replacement for it nobody sold it not even dealer they all wanted me to buy the whole filler neck that came with it. Finally found one the would fit that had same ID on both ends of hose but was for GM. But it worked. Again they you for all your help will definitely recommend you!
