That is not enough to go on to make a diagnosis. Is this a digital dash or standard dash with mechanical gauges? Do all the warning and indicator lights go out, or the back-lighting?

A lot of intermittent problems can be solved by re-soldering the terminals on the back of the instrument cluster. Most of these have just one connector with about 16 - 20 pins. Remove the circuit board, then on the back side you can see where the terminals are soldered on. Look for any that are broken loose. If you do not know what to look for, take the board to any TV repair shop, if you can still find one. Finding and repairing bad connections is an everyday part of their job.
