Check to see if there is spark to the plugs. Also, even though you hear the fuel pump run, you should check to see if the pressure is within the manufacturer's specs.

Wondering where the crankshaft position sensor is located on my 1992 Fordf150, I have had problems with it starting. It cranks but will not start, check engine light on, read code, it stated EEC module, replaced and still same thing. Was told to check crankshaft sensor.

Hello,

This is a mid year shift some crankshaft sensors are called hall effect sensor located in the distributor. Check the diagrams below.

Other sensors are located at the crankshaft front. Disconnect sensor connector and measure resistance across sensor terminals. Resistance should be 300-750 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace sensor.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

I've been having some trouble with my truck. I'm getting spark to the coil, but not from it. I have replaced the coil, the ignition module, the distributor, and numerous other things. I was just informed that it may be a problem with the crankshaft sensor and I'm searching through my Haynes Repair Manual and can't seem to find it. Any advice?

What you mean your getting spark to the coil/

do you mean your getting spark from the coil to the distributor, but nothing leaves the distributor?

When it heats up it shuts down. I have changed the ICM and several other sensors plus the distributor. The ICM I had was used and worked for a couple weeks until it quit. Then replaced the old with a new one which worked for a couple months until it apparently shorted out. So I am thinking that maybe the PCM is faulty and after time sends a wrong signal and shorts out the ICM. Does it sound like IAM on the right path or maybe by coincidence I just had a faulty new ICM? Also, I do not have a crank position sensor on this year. I really hate to plug in a new module and have it go bad in a couple months. Really need some help. Thanks, Pete

It could be the ignition coil shorting out causing he ICM to go out.

Here is a guide on how to test coil:

Please let us know what you find.
