I scanned the truck before and never had this problem, reason being. I installed new plugs and wires; and it still ran like I was driving over speed bumps really fast 45-55 MPH. So installed a new distributor cap and rotor. Still ran bad, then while at idle one evening, truck just shut off and I haven't been able to start it since, and battery keeps dying from lack of cranking amps.

I would see if the engine has jumped time, this can be done by uploading a short video so I can hear it crank, or you can do a compression test which this guide can help with:

Were there any codes? This guide can help gather codes which might guide us to the problem, also does the engine un on starting fluid?

Please go over this video as well:
