This problem has been going on and off for a few months. The first time I wiggled the ECM wires and it worked for about 4 months. Time before that I changed fluid which didn't smell burnt at all and added Lucas and bounced it up a hill to make it engage that lasted about a month. Now nothing is working but if I press the brake pedal down while hitting the accelerator it will move in gear. And if I release it, it's fine until I come to a stop. Then I have to hit the brake slightly again to make it engage.

I assume the fluid level is okay? If so, we should run the codes, this guide can show you how:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Here is how to double check the fluid level and the correct fluid type which needs to be used without substitution.

GM P/N 19256039 (Canadian P/N 19256040)

If the code is for the brake light switch this can cause the transmission to not engage, this switch sends incorrect signals to the TCM, it might cause the TCC to stay engaged.

When you say you wiggle the wiring and it works can you see which wiring it is, like where does it go? Please go over this guide and get back to us.
