1998 Buick Regal Transmission

After driving around for a while when the car is hot the transmission slips. When I come to a stop it stays in high gear and I have to manually shift down and back up again. It also wont go into O/D. It only does this intermittently. After it's turned off for a while it stops or on short trips it works fine.

Has check engine light come on? Has fluid and filter ever been changed? As I understand O.K. Cold and happens hot intermittenly?

The check engine light has not come on. I had the fluid changed at around 46,000 mi, I think the filter too but am not sure. It only has happened when the car is hot and intermittently.

Need to have trans scaned to see if it maybe a faulty shift solenoid. The hanging in high and the intermittent occurance tells me not a clutch or hard parts issue.
