Transmission cross-member

How do you install the transmission cross-member? It is longer than the frame rails. Am I supposed to beat it in because I do not have access to a frame spreader? I had to beat it to get it out now I am having trouble installing it.

Yep the frames can flex inward. We use a port-a-power to move the rails in the shop. This is normal, or you can trim a little off using a grinder.
