2006 Dodge Dakota SLT 4x2 v8 Magnum recently threw 2 codes. P0868 and P0218. Took it to service department and now they are telling me that my transmission needs replaced. The vehicle ran fine just kicked on the occasional temperature light for transmission. Am I being ripped off?

868 is low line pressure and 218 can be from idling to long with in gear. See pics for possible causes and have a second opinion by a qualified trans shop. They may be right but always get a second opinion from an independent. Of course if pan was removed then they probably saw some junk in there that shouldn't have been.
