So my car was revving high in first and second gear and then I don't know where I completely lost reverse. The code that was bringing up was for the shift solenoids. So I ordered all the solenoids and took the side casing off the transmission replaced all the solenoids and everything, replace the transmission filter and fluid. Put it all back together and my car is still not engaging into reverse. And I don't know what's wrong with it. So I figured I have to get a new transmission. My transmission is the 4t45e with a 3.29 axle ratio. So my question is, all the transmissions I've been able to find have the 3.05 axle ratio. So what is the difference between the two ratios and would I be okay putting I transmission into my car with a 3.05 axle ratio instead of the 3.29?

Good afternoon,

Yes, you can use that ratio.

The 3.09 will give you more mileage on the freeways as the engine RPM will be lower.

As far as the transmission, I found over 7 pages of the 3.29 ratio transmissions. Go to www. Car-part. Com. Enter your information and they will list the places, phone number, and emails.

Awesome, thank you for that. And I should've stated that I found some that were 3.29 but I was looking for something local to me because I need it as soon as possible and I'm in Denver Colorado. But that's awesome that I can use to 3.09 is there anything that would have to be different installing it? And would I be able to take the brand new shift solenoids and everything I just put into mine and put them into the 3.09?

The installation will not change at all. The only difference is the ring and pinion ratio is different inside.

The one in my car is also the Tiptronic. Will the 3.05 be able to work with that?

The donor should say the same thing. Again, the only difference is the gear ratio.
