Hello having a very weird problem and cant seem to get the right answer.

Took car thru car wash with the under sprayer. Once was done with the car wash cars transmission started acting weird, pretty hard shifting and down shifts when trying hitting the gas and going into 2nd gear. What is funny is when u manually drop it to third on the automatic shifter and drive it wont do that but will shift lil hard. I believe its an electrical problem but took it to dealer and they claim I need a new trans or rebuild.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also never have had problems with trans did have too replace ecm on it 2years ago.

Have a mechanic look at it at a regular garage. It may have gotten the wiring messed up causing this. If not have a trans guy scan it. Make sure you tell the mechanic what has happened. It still could be an overhaul though.

I did take to a regular mechanic. Mechanic said it seems that the transmission needs to be updated. Thats how I ended up at the dealer and they tell me I need a new tranny. Anything I can test or check at home or any other advice?

Well let me be more specific. Car RMS would rev really high before shifting when lightly tapping gas. Also no check engine light driving moderate it will rev up 6k extremely fast like it down shifted to 1st gear.

Other than checking the plug that goes into trans is about the only thing. Or scan for codes but trans guy would do that. Try cleaning the throttle plate on both sides and iac hole with choke cleaner sometimes they stick. Also make sure all your air ducts are connected going to throttle body. That is about all I can think of without taking a look myself.

Hello, Bryan I just experienced the same problem on my G6 2008 today during a heavy rain. I just had the computer updated on the transmission and BCM on Monday, today is Wednesday, never had issues before this. What, if anything, did you ever find out? I feel its the same issue and hopefully not meaning a new transmission!
