I have a SOHC and my transmission went out. I went to pick and pull and pulled an 2000 same everything. But it still stays in limp mode and is throwing a code for incorrect third gear ratio. Did I get a bad transmission? Does this year no work with the 2003? If I have to get another one can it be from a DOHC or does it have to be from. A SOHC. And do I have to have one from a 3.0 or can it be a 2.6?

Previously answered. See pictures double arrow points to input sensor single arrow output. Check harness for being bad as well as connections.

Do you know if the input and output speed sensors are the same from the 2000 and the 2003. Because I bought new ones for a 2003 but put a 2000 transmission in my vehicle.

Also, is their a way figuring out what transmission type I had if I already got rid of my old one? Had to take it to pick and pull to get my core fee back.

Not unless there is a code on the glove box. It may say which transmission is in it, but normally those are RPO codes and we do not have those. Check the stuff I sent you as well as what I said on private message.

So I notice on my sensor plug one of the wires is slightly exposed. Could this be causing my issue?

F4A512LZP Was only used in 2003-2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS with the 3.0 and is the correct transmission you need.

F4A512E6B Was used in the 2000 Eclipse with the 3.0. It has a different ratio for third which is why it is throwing the code.

From the outside the transmission looks exactly alike but they use different gearing.

Thank you very much. So am I able to take a transmission from car with a SOHC or does it have to be SOHC like my vehicle. Because it seems the SOHC Eclipse like mine are not at pick and pull. But their are many SOHC's.

Does anyone have any insight whether or not I can put a transmission from a car that is DOHC on one that is SOHC?

Reread what Steve W wrote on his reply as long as the transmission has those numbers either a tag on transmission or stamped usually by pan rail you should be okay.

F4A512LZP is the only transmission that will directly interchange and it only came in those years and those cars.
