When I put my car in reverse and hit the gas, it revs up but doesn't move. When I put it in neutral, it's like its in drive. Drive works fine.

Good afternoon,

When the transmission is in the park, does the car try to move? It may try to go backward.

If it does, it could be the transmission shift cable out of adjustment or just worn out. I posted below 2 youtube videos of the replacement of the shift cable.

When the transmission is in park, it does not try to move. When you put it in reverse, it doesn't move the engine just revs. When you out it in drive or neutral, it will move.

Then it is an internal failure in the transmission not allowing reverse.

You will most likely either need a rebuild or replace it with a used transmission.
