I just got the car a week ago and had to bypass the anti theft security. Bought it from a auction so the gps security device was attached. Got the device off and reset the security device and it's hard to shift into a gear. After forcing it into gear it hesitates in drive so it is slipping. I'm trying to get it into gear and get it on a level ground to check the fluid. I'm hoping it's only the gear shifting cable. Is their something to check computer wise after the fluid?

Could my problem be because of the anti theft system or not having a key fob?

Hi Lori, thank you for using 2CarPros. Lets see what we can figure out.

In your post you said you bypassed the security and you reset it. May I ask which one you did or is the security system currently working properly?

Rich.

There were 3 security theft issues that we know of.
1 was the GPS/device with shut off switch that we had to track the wires to find and remove it. The second one was the yellow anti security alert light on the dash and I googled yur app to see what you recommended and I did the Lock Driver door with the key,
Walk 10 ft away for 15 minutes and then unlock driver door with key.
And it worked !
Then we disconnected the radio for now.
The 3rd and 4th gear slipped on my way back from getting gas
That's when we had 2 codes for a
O2 sensor
Transmission control module sensor

We don't have a key fob and we were not aware of all the anti theft issues. Lol
I love the vehicle!
I want to fix it.
We found a used transmission and was thinking of just replacing it.

Changing the transmission may be a bit extreme for a control module code. Do you have the code numbers so I can look them up and see what you are dealing with?

Ron
Sorry so long to respond.
I have been starting the vehicle every day at least once for the last week. I told you I would ask my friend to use his code reader and I tried to start it and it was dead. Wouldn't even jump start so code reader hasn't been done yet to give you the first set of codes. Will let you know as soon. As possible. I'm getting frustrated with all of the issues.

Okay so,
U2105 is lost communication with engine control system.
U2108 is lost control with anti-lock brake system.
P0700 is Transmission Control Module failure.

So at this point I would offer two possibilities.

1: The security system is still engaged and is locking down the drive train. Do you know if your key has a microchip in it or if it does not?

2: In the process of disabling the security system the computer got fried.

The engine control module controls all the systems you have codes for so if you can tell me if your key has a chip in it or not, I can give you the procedure to reset the factory security system and see if it is in lock down.

Also, when you start the car and let it run about ten seconds do you see a yellow light that says "security" on the dash lit up?

Rich.

Yes, the yellow light shows on dash when the key is turned to the start mode. I can see the Brain being fried and I found a used transmission that was in a 3.4 engine. What do you suggest? Take it to a Buick Dealership or ASE Mechanic at this point? I can't wait to drive it!

The security light will come on when you turn the key on as part of the gauge check. This is normal. That is why I need you to start it and let it run for 10 seconds, to get past the checks and see what lights the computer has turned on.

If the security light stays on then it is activated and we can reset it. But I still need to know if you have a chip in the key.

Rich.

Hi Lori. Give this a try and see if the security light goes out.

Make sure the battery if fully charged because this procedure may take up to 30 minutes and you cannot start the vehicle during this time. The BCM and PCM must be in working order and the Passkey system repaired

1. Turn the key to "on", but do not start the vehicle. Leave the key "on" for 11 minutes. The security light should be on steady or flashing during the entire 11 minutes. Do not proceed to the next step until the security light either turns "off" or "stops" FLASHING.

2. Turn the key to "off" for 30 seconds.

3. Turn the key to "on" for 11 minutes, just as in Step 1.

4. Turn the key to "off" for 30 seconds.

5. Turn the key to "on" for 11 minutes. This will be the 3rd time you’re doing this.

6. Turn the key to "off" for 30 seconds (yes, this is the 3rd time you’re doing this too).

7. Turn the key to "on" for 30 seconds.

8. Turn the key to "off".

9. Start the engine.

Rich.
