I have a '98 2wd Tacoma and need to replace the front rotors. I got OEM ones from the local dealer. I removed the caliper, and set about removing the rotor. I removed the dustcap, cotter pin, nut and removed the rotor/hub assembly. I also unbolted the five bolts (14mm) that seem to hold the rotor to the hub. But upon removing these, the rotor does not come off. I tried hitting it with a hammer to no avail. On the backside there is the part of the hub (towards the inside of the wheel) and this does not seem to be seperate from the rotor. Usually if something is two seperate parts but maybe stuck together you can usually see a line that divides the two components. To my eyes, this hub part does not seperate from the rotor. Do I have some kind of a rotor that is different (my truck does have some aftermarket stuff that the previous owner put on) or is this hub part just super cold-welded on. Just wondering, thanks!

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

you have done everything correct so far, with the 14mm bolts removed the rotor will separate from the hub, I feel that it is just cold welded or plain seized with rust, I think that if you persist with a hammer it will come apart, there is nothing else holding it together.
