CV axle

My son just replaced the cv axle on the drivers side of mt corolla the front end started making a whineing noise the other day I drove it most of the way home pulled off the road put it in park and now when I shift it into any gear the car just sits it will not move, is it the cv axle again would it go out that quick?HELP

This is just a guess but it's possible the axle wasn't pushed in the transmission all the way and worked its way out just enough to cause a problem. I'd have him recheck the work.
