We lost acceleration again and the engine repeatedly stalled

We were driving along-when the engine died suddenly-the 'check engine' light had come on. I started the car and when accelerating the car only crept forward at about 10-15 mph. We pulled over and disconnected the battery for a minute and when we started the car it ran fine (about a mile to our home). Later when going to work, we lost acceleration again and the engine repeatedly stalled. We managed to get to a nearby parking lot. The car starts, but shortly after the acceleration/engine dying problem kicks in. Any advice?

Hello,

It sounds like the engine goes into limp mode (low power mode).

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/reduced-power-limp-mode

The controlling computer of the engine system has a built in safety feature called "Limp Mode", it is designed to get the vehicle where it is going under low power while protecting the vehicles engine and transmission. It gets trigged due to malfunction in the engine management system.

This will always trigger the check engine light. Get the vehicle scanned for codes. It cab point to the issue.
