Have not been able to (easily) put gas in my car for the last 5 fill ups. The gas handle keeps going off - no matter the position of the handle and the slowest flow. Then yesterday the tank would not take gas - it overflowed like it was full (and it is not). I have been told it could be a bad overflow valve or the overflow line is kinked. Where (exactly) can I find the overflow line on a 2003 Toyota corolla? And what do you think the problem is?

There are two major causes of this. First is the fuel filler tube has an obstruction in it like a leaf or something else.

This just requires removing it from the tank and the side of the vehicle and inspecting it if you can't see anything from looking down the tube.

The next likely cause is an issue with the venting line and canister system.

Basically if you are topping off the tank you could have fuel in the charcoal canister which makes the pump think that the vapor is backing up the line and it shuts the pump off.

Take a look at the info below and let us know if you have other questions.

Thanks
