Front Pipe Emission Repair and Catalytic converter

I own a 1999 Camry, 4 cylinder with 67000 miles. I have noise from my front pipe emissions. Toyota says that they must also replace the catalytic converter (even though OK) since the part is all inclusive. Is it possible to just change the front pipe and splice it so the converter does not need to be replaced? Cost to do whole job by Toyota is $1400. Thanks for any advice and help.

Check with the auto parts section of this website. Its on the right under e autopartsstore. Com . Put the year and make of vehicle and look up to see if there are replaceable pipes. On some cars parts can be bought only from the dealer, Check to see if there are after market replaceable parts for your car. Most of the time aftermarket parts are a lot cheaper.

I can't even tell you how many of these I change every year. Yes the cat is part of the pipe. These are available from most exhaust suppliers. My personal 2 favorites are bosal and davico.
