The car was purchased from a dealership and was sold without the remotes. The dealer stated the alarm was deactivated. 2 years later the battery died and was replaced. Once replaced the alarm was activated and I tried locking and unlocking drivers side door. The dealership says they have no information on the alarm because its an after market product. Is there anything I can do or is the car a total loss? Should I have the car towed to get a computer scan?

If the alarm is aftermarket, have it removed. Those alarms arent integrated into the car like a factory alarm, they are spliced in. Removal shouldnt be a big deal for a shop to tackle
